    priests to a dinner. They were taken round to see the different parts of the castle before dinner was served. Finding all the priests in one room a number of servants came and killed them. There was a trap hole on some stairs in the castle. Any one who stepped on that hole fell into Lough Conn. This was one of the means he employed to punish his tenants. He was hated for his cruelty.
    In 1916 Lord Arran left Ireland and went to England. While he was away the castle and all his possessions were burned. It has never been discovered who was responsible for it. Lord Arran never went out without a sword in his hand and he never came in without blood on it.
